05:00 pm - 06:45 pmDriving the Green Economy: Electrification of Urban Mobility and Industry in Brazil

The panel addresses the use of electrification technologies to promote decarbonization and foster a greener economy. It consists of two parts. The first part discusses the decarbonization of transport systems, including case studies on the transition of last-mile logistics fleets in Brazil. The second part is presented by PotencializEE and covers the use of electrical heat pumps in the food and beverage industry, highlighting innovative approaches to reducing GHG emissions and enhancing energy efficiency. The panel is presented by the project "Sector Coupling and Green Economy (AcoplaRE)", developed within the Brazil-Germany Cooperation for Sustainable Development. AcoplaRE is implemented by the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH in cooperation with the Brazilian Ministry of Mines and Energy (MME) and financed by the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ). AcoplaRE seeks to contribute to making urban transport and industry in Brazil more climate neutral, environmentally friendly and socially just. PotencializEE, the "Programa Investimentos Transformadores de Eficiência Energética na Indústria", aims to promote Energy Efficiency in industrial SMEs (Small and Medium Enterprises) in Brazil. PotencializEE is led by MME and implemented by GIZ with funding from the Mitigation Action Facility, a multi-donor initiative for sectorial decarbonisation.
